CNGR Finland Oy is creating a state-of-the-art battery materials plant in Hamina, Finland. The plant will manufacture precursor cathode active material (pCAM), which is a key component in batteries.
The pCAM plant will be a significant employer in the Hamina-Kotka Region. At the same time, the plant-to-be supports the green transition and the electrification of European transportation. The plant will utilise Best Available Technology (BAT) in its operations.
Our goal is to build a pCAM plant with the smallest carbon footprint in the entire world.
CNGR Finland Oy is a joint venture between the Chinese listed company CNGR Advanced Materials and the Finnish Minerals Group, a state-owned company.
The pCAM plant project is applying for permits for an annual capacity of 60,000 tonnes.
An environmental impact assessment was conducted in 2021 and preparations are underway to apply for environmental permit.
The plant will employ approximately 150 people when it begins operations.
The project will also create employment opportunities in other industries.
Key technology choices are being made in the planning phase.
The construction of the plant is expected to begin within a few years.
About 500 people will be employed during construction.
There is a possibility to expand the operation in the future.
About €100 million in additional investments will be generated in the project value chains.

The pCAM plant will be a state-of-the-art industrial operation that provides good jobs, boosts local expertise, fights climate change and generates ample tax revenue for society.
